On 1st November 2012 the EU Tyre labelling legislation came into force, meaning the majority of tyres manufactured after July 2012 must display this sticker. This makes choosing the most suitable tyres for you easier than ever before.

Tyre labelling explained

Fuel efficiency or rolling resistance –

The energy lost when a tyre is rolling is known as rolling resistance. The lower the rolling resistance the more you reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

A = Most efficient and G = least efficient (D not used)

Wet grip –

This rating reflects the braking distance of a vehicle in wet conditions. The difference between ratings A and G can be up to 18 metres which is four car lengths.

A = Shortest braking distance and G = Longest braking distance (D not used)

External rolling Noise -

A tyre's exterior noise level is measured in decibels. Tyres are categorised in 3 classes illustrated by 3 waves.

1 wave = quieter tyre and 3 waves = Louder tyre
